B & G's 7/25/09

Baseballs:

**Kevin Hart, Chicago Cubs- The Cubs gave him enough runs, but he threw 6 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1 and struck out 4. Kevin earned his 2Nd win of the season and he has a 2.08 ERA.

**Gio Gonzales, Oakland Athletics- Gio went against a team that had won 8 in a row and did absolutely nothing wrong for quite some time, but he completely shut the team down. He threw 6 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 3 and struck out 6. Gio won his 2Nd game of the season and now has a 7.75 ERA.

**Carlos Pena, Tampa Bay Rays- Pena helped his team come back from 8 runs down. He responded by going 2-6, including hitting his 25Th Home Run of the season, he hit a triple and drove in 4 runs, giving him 64 RBIs. Carlos is now hitting .227 on the year.

**Carlos Guillen, Detroit Tigers- Walk off single to drive in the winning run in the 10Th inning. Carlos went 2-5 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 9 RBIs on the season. Carlos is now hitting .225.

**Jimmy Rollins, Philadelphia Phillies- Jimmy went 2-5, he hit his 9Th Home Run of the season, a grand slam and drove in 5 runs, giving him 43 RBIs. Jimmy is hitting .237 on the year.

**Jeremy Sowers, Cleveland Indians- Jeremy got the call up and started today, he responded by throwing 7 shutout innings. He walked 2 and struck out 2. Jeremy needed that for his team, but he also needed that for his confidence and it should be interesting to see if he can throw 2 straight Quality Starts back to back because he has yet to do that for the Indians. He now has a 5.15 ERA.

**Jon Lester, Boston Red Sox- Jon dominated the Orioles tonight, by throwing 7 1/3 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), walking 2 and struck out 9. Jon now has a 3.79ERA.

**Chone Figgins, Los Angeles Angels- Chone got the ball rolling in the 4Th inning with his 3rd Home Run of the season, he finished the day 2-4 with a walk and 3 runs scored. Chone now has 36 RBIs and is hitting .312.

**Jonathan Nieve, New York Mets- Nieve threw 7 solid innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), walked 2 and struck out 3. Nieve got some help from his offense by scoring 10 runs, but he'll take that. Nieve won his 2Nd Major League start and has a 4.08 ERA.

**Yovani Gallardo, Milwaukee Brewers- Yovani gave the Brewers a quality outing, blanking the Atlanta Braves. He threw 7 1/3 innings, he didn't give up a run, he walked 4 and struck out 6. Yovani now has a 3.08 ERA.

**Adam Dunn, Washington Nationals- Adam finished 2-3 with a sacrifice fly, driving in 5 runs, giving him 70 on the season. Adam hit his 25Th Home Run of the season and he is hitting .275.

**Luke Hochevar, Kansas City Royals- Worked 7 strong innings, giving up 3 runs (2 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 13. Luke now has a 4.80 ERA.

**Tory Tulowitsky, Colorado Rockies- Troy drove in a key career RBIs, he now has 45 RBIs. Troy was a triple away from hitting the cycle. Troy is now hitting .253.

**Doug David, Arizona Diamondbacks- Doug threw 6 scoreless innings, he walked 3 and struck out 8. Doug now has a 3.76 ERA.

**Casey Blake, Los Angeles Dodgers- Picked up the walk off single, giving his Dodgers a 4-3 win. Casey went 1-4 with a walk and drove in his 58Th RBI and Casey is now hitting .275 on the season.

Goofballs:

**Reds Offense- Had no answers for the rookie Hart, and didn't threaten until the end of the game. 3 runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 8 strikeouts.

**Alfredo Aceves, New York Yankees- Alfredo didn't help Andy Pettitte, or the Yankees. He only threw 1/3 of an inning, gave up 2 runs (2 earned), Aceves now has a 2.89 ERA.

**Scott Downs, Toronto Blue Jays- Blew his 3rd save of the season, 2Nd this week. He gave up 2 runs (2 earned), did not walk a batter and struck out 1. Scott now has a 3.06 ERA.

**Bobby Jenks, Chicago White Sox- Even though he did not lose the game, he blew his 4Th save. He threw 1 1/3 innings, but gave up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone, but struck out 2. Bobby now has a 4.33 ERA and the White Sox have to win tomorrow to avoid being swept by the Tigers in a 4 game series.

**Jason Motte, St. Louis Cardinals- Blew the lead for the Cardinals and gave up the grand slam to Jimmy Rollins. He only lasted 1/3 of an inning, gave up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 2 and didn't strike anyone out. Jason now has a 5.70 ERA.

**Chris Jakubauskis, Seattle Mariners- Chris came in and did not give his Mariners a chance to come back. He threw 1 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (4 earned), he gave up 2 Home Runs and now has a 5.59 ERA.

**Adam Jones, Baltimore Orioles- The young Centerfielder had a tough night, he went 0-5 with 3 strikeouts. His offense didn't help either, scoring 2 runs, 10 hits, and 10 strikeouts. Adam is now hitting .302.

**Nick Blackburn, Minnesota Twins- He was fine through his first 3 innings, but had a very troubled 4Th inning that he couldn't survive. In all, he threw 3 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1 and didn't strike anyone out. Nick now has a 3.75 ERA.

**Russ Ortiz, Houston Astros- Russ was bad, he only lasted 4 1/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 4 and struck out 3. Russ has a 4.75 ERA.

**Atlanta Braves Offense- no runs, 4 hits, walked 4 and struck out 8. Just not a good night in the office.

**Luis Perdomo, San Diego Padres- Luis threw 3 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4 and struck out 7. Luis now has a 4.42 ERA this year.

**Rangers Offense- 3 runs, 6 hits, 1 walk, 16 strikeouts. 3 players struck out 3 times. Hank Blalock, Andreuw Jones, and Josh Hamilton all did the deed.

**Jonathan Sanchez, San Francisco Giants- Not exactly a perfect outing, but he still struggled, throwing 5 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4 and struck out 5. Jonathan now has a 4.92 ERA.

**Evan Meek- Evan threw 1 inning, he gave up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 1 and struck out 1. Evan now has a 4.36 ERA.

**Dan Meyer- Dan only pitched 1/3 of an inning, he did give up 1 run (1 earned), Dan now has a 2.13 ERA.
