Obama's MLB Picks

The president of the US will not make any predictions, because he's still hoping his beloved White Sox will sneak into the postseason. However, he has hinted that he thinks we will see the Cardinals and Yankees meet in the World Series.

I'd like to see the Rockies meet the Angels in the World Series.

Baseballs:

**Will Venable, San Diego Padres- Will finished the day 2-3 with a walk and he caught the final out at the warning track to give his Padres a 1 run win. Will is now hitting .272.

**Tim Redding, New York Mets- 7 strong innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 4, won his 3rd game of the year and now has a 5.25 ERA.

**Michael Cuddyer, Minnesota Twins- Michael hit the big shot, a 3 run Home Run, his 28Th of the season, and it now gives him 83 RBIs. That led the Twins to a comeback victory and now they are 2 games in back of Detroit in the AL Central. Michael is now hitting .274.

**Brendan Ryan, St. Louis Cardinals- Ryan had a fluke Home Run, the ball bouncing off Bobby Scales' glove, but his last hit is what counted the most, a walk off single, driving in his 2Nd run to win the game. Brendan went 3-4 and now has 3 Home Runs with 34 RBIs, Ryan is hitting .293.

**Kurt Suzuki, Oakland Athletics- Kurt went 3-4 at the plate with a walk, he hit his 14Th Home Run of the season and drove in his 79Th RBI. Kurt is now hitting .271.

**Jon Garland, Los Angeles Dodgers- Jon's offense helped him, but he still threw 8 innings, giving up 1 run (0 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and now has a 4.02 ERA with 11 wins.

**Carlos Quintin, Chicago White Sox- Carlos had a good game, finishing up 2-4 with a Home Run, his 17Th shot of the season, driving in 4 runs, giving him 45 RBIs. Carlos is hitting .235 on the year.

**J.D. Drew, Boston Red Sox- Drew finished the night 3-5 with a Home Run, his 21st of the season. He drove in 4 runs, giving him 63 RBIs and is now hitting .269.

**Hank Blalock, Texas Rangers- Hank hit the go ahead Home Run, his 24Th shot of the year, he drove in his 59Th RBI of the year. He finished the night 1-3 and is hitting .237.

**Matt Garza, Tampa Bay Rays- Garza threw 7 1/3 innings of shutout ball, he walked 6, struck out 10 and now has a 3.70 ERA, winning his 8Th game of the season.

**Jeff Suppan, Milwaukee Brewers- 7 strong innings for the veteran, he gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 7 and lowered his ERA to 4.76 and winning his 7Th game.

**Javier Vazquez, Atlanta Braves- Vazquez threw 7 shutout innings, he walked 3 men, struck out 6 and won his 14Th game. Vazquez lowered his ERA to 2.91.

**Ross Gload, Florida Marlins- Ross hit a pinch hit Home Run, his 5Th shot of the year, driving in 2 runs, giving him 28 RBIs. Gload is hitting .272.

**Jason Giambi, Colorado Rockies- Giambi hit a key 3 run Home Run to extend the lead. He has 12 Home Runs, 49 RBIs and is hitting .200.

**Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees- Mark was a thorn on the side of the Mariners, he went 4-5 with 2 Home Runs and he drove in 5 runs, he has 37 Homers, and now has 118 RBIs and he has a .289 average.

Goofballs:

**Pirates Offense- 1 run on 5 hits, they walked 3 times, struck out 8 and left 6 men on base.

**Nationals Offense- 2 runs scored on just 5 hits all day, they walked 2 times, struck out 5 and left 5 men on base.

**Tigers Offense- No clutch hitting all day, 2 runs, 12 hits, they left 10 men on base.

**Cubs Offense- Only 1 run on 10 hits, they walked 2 times, struck out 4 and left 7 men on base.

**Jeremy Sowers, Cleveland Indians- Jeremy lasted just 1 inning, he gave up 6 runs (6 earned), walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 4.92 ERA with his 10Th loss.

**Brad Penny, San Francisco Giants- It looked like the Dodgers were waiting for Brad to show up so they can greet him warmly. He threw 2 2/3 innings, giving up 7 runs (7 earned), he walked 3, struck out 1, and gave up 3 Home Runs. Penny now has a 5.35 ERA and 9 losses.

**Mike Jacobs, Kansas City Royals- Struck out 4 times after a -4 evening, he is hitting .231.

**Matt Albers, Baltimore Orioles- Lost the game, his 6Th of the season. He threw 1/3 of an inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), and he now has a 5.43 ERA.

**Angels Offense- Was involved in a pitcher's duel with the Rangers outlasting the Angels. 2 runs on 7 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, leaving 6 men on base.

**Blue Jays Offense- Were shutout and only could get 3 hits, walked 6 times, and struck out 12.

**Tim Byrdak, Houston Astros- Lost the game, giving up 2 runs (2 earned) in 0 innings, he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 3.19 ERA.

**Pedro Martinez, Philadelphia Phillies- Pedro lasted 3 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 3.32 ERA, getting his 1st loss.

**Reds Offense- 2 runs on just 5 hits, and they struck out 11 times.

**Esmerling Vazquez, Arizona Diamondbacks- Esmerling gave up 4 runs (4 earned) in 2/3 of an inning, to open up the game. He walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 4.47 ERA.

**Doug Fister, Seattle Mariners- Doug only worked 4 innings, he gave up 6 runs (6 earned), walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 4.37 ERA with 3 losses.
