B & G's 9/26/09

Baseballs:

**Yunel Escobar, Atlanta Braves- Yunel set the tone, he went 2-5 with a double and drove in 3 runs, giving him 74 RBIs. Escobar is hitting .299 on the season.

**Adam Lind, Toronto Blue Jays- Adam hit 2 Home Runs, including the walk off Home Run that helped his team win. He now has 32 Homers, 109 RBIs after driving in 3 and is hitting .301 after a 3-4 with a walk afternoon.

**C.C. Sabathia, New York Yankees- Big C.C. threw a 1 hitter through 7 innings, he walked 2, struck out 8 and became the first 19 game winner in the Majors. He now has a 3.21 ERA.

**Jake Fox, Chicago Cubs- Jake went 2-3 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 43 RBIs. Jake is now hitting .280 on the year.

**Jhonny Peralta, Cleveland Indians- Jhonny had a good night at the plate. He finished 3-5 with a double and a walk off single to win the game for the Tribe. He drove in 2 runs, giving him 80 RBIs and he is hitting .264.

**Miguel Cabrera, Detroit Tigers- Miguel went 4-6 with a Home Runs, his 32Nd of the season. He drove in 4 runs, which now gives him 100 RBIs, and he is hitting .332.

**Jay Bruce, Cincinnati Reds- Jay went 2-3 with 2 walks, he hit his 20Th Home Run of the season. Drove in 3 runs, giving him 52 RBIs and scored 3 runs. Jay is hitting .221 on the year.

**Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers- Ryan went 3-5 at the plate, hit his 30Th Home Run, a walk off Homer to give his Brewers the win. He drove in 3 runs, giving him 106 on the year and is now hitting .314.

**Manny Ramirez, Los Angeles Dodgers- Manny went 2-2 with 3 walks, a double and he drove in his 62Nd RBI. Manny is hitting .299.

**Denard Span, Minnesota Twins- Denard kept pace with the Tigers and led his Twins to another win. He went 4-5 with a triple and drove in a career high 6 runs, giving him 66 RBIs. Span is now hitting .311.

**Cameron Maybin, Florida Marlins- Cameron went 1-1 at the plate with a walk, he hit his 3rd Home Run of the season, drove in 3 runs, giving him 10 RBIs on the year. Maybin is now hitting .224.

**Marlon Byrd, Texas Rangers- Marlon went 2-3 with a walk, he hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 19 on the year and drove in 5, he has 88 RBIs and is hitting .282.

**Chad Tracy, Arizona Diamondbacks- Chad hit a big Grand Slam Home Run, his 7Th of the year and with the 4 runs he drove in, it gives him 38 RBIs. Chad is hitting .229.

**Adam Wainwright, St. Louis Cardinals- Joined C.C. Sabathia as the only 19 game winners, he threw 8 innings, giving up 3 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, struck out 11 and now has a 2.58 ERA.

**Jack Cust, Oakland Athletics- Jack went 3-6 at the plate, he hit his 24Th Home Run of the year and drove in the winning run in a wild 6 run 9Th inning. He has 69 RBIs now after driving in 4 runs and is hitting .243.

Goofballs:

**Elijah Dukes, Washington Nationals- Dukes committed 2 errors in the game, he now has 8 on the season.

**Mariners Offense- They had their chances, 4 runs, 13 hits, 2 walks, 9 strikeouts, and they left 10 men on base.

**Red Sox Offense- They only had 2 hits and were shut out. They walked 2 men, struck out 12. A very tough day for the offense.

**Barry Zito, San Francisco Giants- Zito only lasted 4 innings, he gave up 4 runs (4 earned), walked 5, struck out 3 and now has a 4.10 ERA with his 13Th loss.

**Jim Johnson, Baltimore Orioles- Jim lost his 6Th game, he threw 1/3 of an inning, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he now has a 4.16 ERA.

**Freddy Garcia, Chicago White Sox- Freddy survived 6 innings, but he gave up 7 runs (7 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and lost his 4Th game. Garcia now has a 4.78 ERA.

**Felipe Paulino, Houston Astros- Felipe threw 5 innings, giving up 8 runs (8 earned), he walked 4, struck out 3. Felipe now has 11 losses and a 6.51 ERA.

**Tyler Walker, Philadelphia Phillies- Another blown save by the Phillies bullpen. He didn't retire anyone, gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he now has a 2.78 ERA with his 1st loss.

**Denny Bautista, Pittsburgh Pirates- Denny lost the game, he threw 1/3 of an inning, gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 5.68 ERA.

**Yasuhiko Yabuta, Kansas City Royals- Yabuta gave up 4 runs (4 earned) in 1/3 of an inning. He walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 14.73 ERA.

**John Maine, New York Mets- John lasted 4 2/3 innings, giving up 7 runs (7 earned), he walked 2, struck out 3 and now has a 4.72 ERA with his 6Th loss.

**Jeff Bennett, Tampa Bay Rays- Jeff couldn't even get a hitter out. He gave up 5 runs (5 earned) in 0 innings. He walked 2, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 5.04 ERA.

**Luke Gregorson, San Diego Padres- Blew the lead, threw 2/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 1 and now has a 3.36 ERA.

**Rockies Offense- 3 runs on 11 hits, they left 11 men on base, having a hard time getting the clutch hits.

**Kevin Jespen, LA Angels- Kevin blew the lead and lost his 4Th game of the year. He threw 2/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 4.91 ERA.

Baseballs:

**Javier Vazquez, Atlanta Braves- A complete game for the Braves' Right Hander, he gave up 1 run (1 earned), walked 1, struck out 7 and lowered his ERA to 2.83 with his 15Th win.

**Luis Valbuena, Cleveland Indians- The Indians finally won a game and he led the way. Luis finished up 2-3 with a sacrifice bunt, he hit his 9Th Home Run of the year, drove in his 27Th run and is now hitting .239.

**Brandon Moss, Pittsburgh Pirates- Brandon drove in 2 key runs to give the Pirates the lead. He went 1-3 and now has 39 RBIs. Moss is hitting .242.

**Cory Sullivan, New York Mets- Cory picked up a pinch hit single to give the Mets the lead and he drove in 2 runs, he now has 15 RBIs and is hitting .262.

**Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees- Alex finished the night 3-3 with 2 walks, he hit his 28Th Home Run of the year, drove in 4 runs, giving him 93 RBIs and stole 3 bases. Rodriguez is hitting .288.

**Roy Halladay, Toronto Blue Jays- Roy threw a complete game shutout, a 7 hitter, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 9. Roy has 16 wins and now has a 2.90 ERA.

**Joey Votto, Cincinnati Reds- Joey finished the evening 2-4 with a double and he hit his 23rd Home Run of the season. Votto drove in 4 runs, giving him 80 RBIs and he is hitting .315.

**Ian Kinsler, Texas Rangers- Ian set the tone, he went 1-2 with 2 walks and hit his 30Th Home Run of the year, drove in 3 runs, giving him 83 RBIs and is hitting .250.

**Michael Cuddyer, Minnesota Twins- Michael went 2-4 with a walk, he hit his 30Th Home Run of the year, drove in 2 runs and has 88 RBIs. Michael is now hitting .278.

**Jake Peavy, Chicago White Sox- Jake shut out the Tigers for 7 innings, he also walked 2, struck out 8 and won his 8Th game of the year and has a 3.75 ERA.

**Manny Parra, Milwaukee Brewers- Manny threw 7 solid innings, giving up 2 runs (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 8 and now has a 6.16 ERA with 11 wins.

**Yorvit Torrealba, Colorado Rockies- Yorvit sent the Rockie fans home happy with a walk off sacrifice fly to win the game, his 27Th RBI. He also finished up 1-2 with a walk and is hitting .283.

**Kevin Correia, San Diego Padres- Kevin threw a complete game shutout, he gave up 6 hits, walked 1, struck out 7 and has a 3.89 ERA with his 12Th win.

**Carlos Zambrano, Chicago Cubs- Carlos threw a complete game shutout, he surrendered 2 hits, walked 1, struck out 8, and Carlos also helped at the plate, driving in 2 runs after going 1-3 with a double. He has 11 RBIs and is hitting .209. Carlos has a 3.69 ERA with 9 wins.

**Gio Gonzales, Oakland Athletics- Gio threw 6 1/3 shutout innings, he gave up 4 hits, walked 1, struck out 7. Gio now has a 5.73 ERA, he won his 6Th game of the season.

Goofballs:

**Nationals Offense- They scored 1 run on only 3 hits. Never had much of a chance against Vazquez.

**Orioles Offense- No clutch hitting, 2 runs, 10 hits, 4 walks, 8 strikeouts, leaving 10 men on base.

**Dodgers Defense- 2 errors cost the Dodgers 3 unearned runs. Blake DeWitt (1st) and James Loney (7Th) prevented them from clinching the division just yet.

**Leo Nunez, Florida Marlins- Blew his 7Th save, he threw 1 inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), walked 2, struck out 1. Leo now has a 4.23 ERA with 6 losses.

**Jon Lester- Boston Red Sox- Jon was hurt in the game and left early, he got hit by a pitch, but as it turns out, he is okay which is the good news. The bad news is he threw 2 1/3 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), walked 3, struck out 3. Lester now has a 3.52 ERA with 8 losses.

**Mariners Offense- They were shut out, collected 7 hits, didn't walk at all and struck out 9. Tough night against Halladay.

**Brian Moeller, Houston Astros- Brian threw 2 1/3 innings, he gave up 7 runs (7 earned), walked 1, struck out 2. Brian now has a 5.21 ERA with his 11Th loss of the season.

**Grant Balfour, Tampa Bay Rays- Grant gave up 3 runs (3 earned) in the 8Th inning, when the game was still close. He walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 5.01 ERA.

**Robinson Tejeda, Kansas City Royals- Tejeda threw 4 1/3 innings, he gave up 6 runs (5 earned), but he walked 7 men, struck out 3 and now has a 3.41 with his 2ND loss of the season.

**Brandon Inge, Detroit Tigers- Brandon struck out 3 times and he committed his 18Th error of the season. A very tough night.

**Cliff Lee, Philadelphia Phillies- Cliff threw 6 innings, but he gave up 7 runs (7 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 6, but gave up 2 Home Runs and lost his 12Th game. Cliff now has a 3.19 ERA.

**Cardinals Offense- They scored 1 run on 8 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, leaving 6 men on base and losing the game.

**Diamondbacks Offense- They were shutout, only collecting 6 hits, walked 1 time, and struck out 7.

**Giants Offense- They were shutout and had 2 hits, they walked 1 time, and struck out 8.

**Bobby Abreau, LA Angels- Struck out 3 times at the plate to lead the Angels in 13 strikeouts in their loss.
