Around the Horn

  • Magglio Ordonez's 2010 18 million dollar option vested tonight with his third plate appearance during the game.
  • Russell Branyan would like to return to Seattle next season. With his 31 homeruns, hes due for a big contract.
  • Brett Tomko would like to play another season with his new found success.
  • Mike Hampton will miss the following 2010 season with shoulder surgery.
  • Astros shortstop Miguel Tejada would like to return to the Stros' next season, even if it means playing third base.
  • The Cubs have started discussing a two-year contract extension with John Grabow.

Baseballs:

**Reid Brignac, Tampa Bay Rays- Reid led the Rays to a win, ending their 11 game losing streak. He finished the night 4-4 with 2 doubles and he hit his 1st Home Run of the season, driving in 3 runs, giving him 5 RBIs. Brignac is now hitting .286.

**Jay Bruce, Cincinnati Reds- Jay delivered a pinch hit single to drive in 2 runs, to give the Reds the lead for good. Jay has 43 RBIs and is hitting .210.

**Aubrey Huff, Detroit Tigers- Aubrey hit a pinch hit Home Run, a 3 run shot to tie the game in the 9Th inning, he has 15 Home Runs, 83 RBIs and is now hitting .246.

**Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees- Mark went 3-4 with a big triple, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 111 RBIs and he is hitting .285.

**Ryan Dempster, Chicago Cubs- Ryan threw 8 shutout innings, he walked 1, struck out 4 and now has a 3.84 ERA winning his 10Th game of the year.

**Michael Cuddyer, Minnesota Twins- Michael went 2-4 and hit his 25Th Home Run of the year, hitting a 3 run shot to tie the game and he now has 75 RBIs and is hitting .273.

**Matt Holliday, St. Louis Cardinals- Matt went 2-5 at the plate, he drove in 3 runs, giving him 102 RBIs on the season and is hitting .315.

**Brett Tomko, Oakland Athletics- He threw a complete game shutout, giving up 5 hits, didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and won his 110Th career victory. He has a 3.77 ERA.

**Brandon Allen, Arizona Diamondbacks- Brandon hit the go ahead run to drive in his 10Th RBI of the season. After Brandon went 1-4, he is hitting .203.

**Jon Garland, Los Angeles Dodgers- Jon threw 6 solid innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 3, struck out 3 and now has a 4.19 ERA, winning his 10Th game of the year.

**Tim Linecum, San Francisco Giants- Making his first start in a week, Tim looked very sharp, he went 7 innings, he gave up 1 run 91 earned), he walked 4, struck out 11. He won his 14Th game and now has a 2.30 ERA.

Goofballs:

**David Hernandez, Baltimore Orioles- David threw 3 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 6 and now has a 5.40 ERA.

**Astros Offense- 1 run on 7 hits, 0 walks, 6 strikeouts, leaving 6 men on base.

**Marco Scutaro, Toronto Blue Jays- 2 errors, the 2Nd error cost his team the game. He has 10 errors on the season.

**Angels Offense- 3 runs, on 8 hits, they left 8 men on base and didn't get the clutch hit to win the game.

**Brewers Offense- They were shut out on just 4 hits, walked 2 times, and struck out 5. The Brewers left 5 men on base.

**Chris Perez, Cleveland Indians- Chris blew the game and lost his 2Nd game, he threw 1/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he gave up 2 Home Runs and now has a 4.17 ERA.

**Matt Lindstrom, Florida Marlins- Matt threw 2/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned) he walked 3, struck out 1 and now has a 5.83 ERA, putting the game away at the time.

**Rangers Offense- Had no answers against Brett Tomko, they had 5 hits, 0 walks, and 3 strikeouts, leaving 2 men on base.

**Padres Offense- They struck out 14 as a team with Will Venable with 3 strikeouts.

**Brandon Moss, Pittsburgh Pirates- Had a tough night at the plate, striking out 3 times and after going 0-4, he is hitting .241.

**Rockies Offense- Just scored 1 run, 6 hits, they walked 5 times, but struck out 15. No come from behind win for the Rockies.
