Around the MLB on Tuesday...

Update 2:10: The Rangers are trading minor league reliever Matt Nevarez and another player.
Update 2:00: The Rangers are responsible for the 1.5 million salary, plus 1.5 million in incentives.
Update 1:18: Jon Heyman hears the Rangers are giving up 2 mid level prospects for Pudge.
Update 1:00: The Rangers acquire Ivan Rodriguez for a PTBNL.
* The Rangers are close to acquiring C Ivan Rodriguez from the Astros for 2 mid level prospects.

* The Yankees were interested in Reds pitchers Bronson Arroyo and Aaron Harang but are longer interested because the Reds said they will not send any money over.

* More draft signings, thanks to Jim Callis:
The Yankees signed 44th round pick Evan DeLuca for $500k.
The Rangers signed 17th round pick Paul Strong for $300k.
The Nationals signed 12th round pick Nathan Karns for $225k.
The Padres signed 17th round pick Jorge Reyes for $200k.
The Mets signed 9th round pick Jeff Glenn for $150k

* The Dodgers aren't interested in recently released P Vincente Padilla.

* The Nats GM job is coming down to acting GM Mike Rizzo, Boston's Jed Hoyer and Arizona's Jerry DiPoto.

* 160.2 million were spent on the top 10 picks in the 2009 draft.

* The Cardinals are very interested in recently release P John Smoltz. John Smoltz was release yesterday and will clear waivers on Wednesday.
