B & G's 8/31/09

Baseballs:

**Carlos Pena, Tampa Bay Rays- Carlos went 3-5 and hit his 38Th Home Run of the season, driving in 4 runs, giving him 96 RBIs and Pena is now hitting .223.

**Drew Stubbs, Cincinnati Reds- Game One- Drew finished the first game 2-4 and he set the tone with a lead off Home Run, his 2Nd of the season, and he now has 4 RBIs. Drew is hitting .232.

**Brandon Phillips, Cincinnati Reds- Game Two- Brandon finished the night 3-4 and he hit his 18Th Home Run of the year, drove in 2 runs, giving him 81 RBIs. Brandon is now hitting .268.

**Andy Pettitte, New York Yankees- Andy took a no hitter into the 7Th inning. He threw 8 strong innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 8. Andy now has a 4.03 ERA, winning his 12Th game.

**Kenshin Kawakimi, Atlanta Braves- 6 strong innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 5. Kenshin now has a 3.97 ERA.

**Carlos Lee, Houston Astros- Carlos finished the night 2-4, he hit his 22Nd Home Run of the season, drove in 4 runs, giving him 85 RBIs, and he is now hitting .308.

**Nick Blackburn, Minnesota Twins- 7 strong innings, gaining ground on the Tigers. He gave up 1 run (1 earned), he did not walk anyone and struck out 7. Nick now has a 4.16 ERA and he won his 9Th game of the year.

**Adam Lind, Toronto Blue Jays- Adam went 3-5 and hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 27 on the year. He drove in 8 runs, giving him 89 RBIs. Adam is now hitting .303.

**Tim Stauffer, San Diego Padres- Tim threw 6 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 3, struck out 5 and won his 3rd game. Tim now has a 3.76 ERA.

**Rajai Davis, Oakland Athletics- Davis finished the evening 2-4 and drove in 2 runs, giving him 31 RBIs. Rajai also stole his 30Th base and is now hitting .293.

**Vladimir Guerrero, LA Angels- Guerrero went 3-4 with 2 Home Runs, giving him 13 on the year. He drove in 4 runs, giving him 38 RBIs. He led the Angels' charge against the Mariners. Vladdy is now hitting .307.

**Rusty Ryal, Arizona Diamondbacks- Rusty went 1-5 but that hit was his 2Nd Home Run of the season, a solo shot giving the D-Backs the lead. Rusty has 2 RBIs and is hitting .290.

Goofballs:

**Jarrod Washburn, Detroit Tigers- Jarrod went 5 2/3 innings, giving up 8 runs (8 earned), he walked 3, struck out 2, and he gave up 2 Home Runs. Washburn now has a 3.55 ERA.

**Jesse Chavez, Pittsburgh Pirates- Game One- Threw the wild pitch that allowed the winning run to score. He three 2/3 of an inning, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he lost his 4Th game and now has a 3.90 ERA.

**Pirates Offense- Game Two- No clutch hitting tonight, they scored 3 runs, 8 hits, walked 1 time, and struck out 9. They left 8 men on base.

**Orioles Offense- 1 run on 3 hits at the plate, they walked 1 time and struck out 9.

**Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins- Hanley struck out 3 times and went 0-4, hitting .356.

**Rich Harden, Chicago Cubs- Rich lasted 5 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked an amazing 6 men and struck out 9. Rich lost his 8Th game and he now has a 4.19 ERA.

**Chicago White Sox- I guess they are throwing in the towel this season, they just traded Jim Thome to the Los Angeles Dodgers and unloaded Jose Contreras to the Rockies. The Sox offense didn't help matters, they scored 1 run and struck out 10 times.

**Derek Holland, Texas Rangers- Derek lasted 3 innings, giving up 10 runs (10 earned), he walked 3, and struck out 1. Derek lost his 9Th game and now has a 5.63 ERA.

**Washington Nationals Offense- No clutch hitting, 3 runs on 8 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts, leaving 8 men on base.

**Luke Hochever, Kansas City Royals- Luke threw 5 1/3 innings, giving up 7 runs (6 earned), he walked 4, struck out 5 and he now has a 5.74 ERA, losing his 8Th game.

**Luke French, Seattle Mariners- Threw 5 innings, giving up 7 runs (7 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and now has a 4.62 ERA, losing his 4Th game.

**Dodgers Offense- 3 runs on just 5 hits, they walked 2 times and struck out 4. The Dodgers left 4 men on base.
