11:31: Marlon Byrd hopes to stay in Texas when he hits free agency for the first time after the season. As of right now Byrd is expected to get a raise in free agency.
9:33: Bill Wagner blocked the trade to the Red Sox because of his health. He wants to rest his arm for the rest of the season and come back close to full strength next season. The Mets are out of the playoffs and will be able for him to rest his arm but in the other hand the Red Sox are still in and will need to use him in the bullpen as a late inning guy.
9:30: The Astors placed RP Latroy Hawkins on waivers and Rosenthal speculates the Dodgers, Rockies and Cardinals could be interested.
8:45: An unknown team claimed P Brad penny off waivers before the Red Sox pulled him back. Penny can not be dealt now because the deadline to the claiming team has passed.
