B & G's 9/11/09

Baseballs:

**Aramis Ramirez, Chicago Cubs- Aramis finished the afternoon 3-3 and he drove in 3 runs, giving him 54 RBIs and he was hit by a pitch. Ramirez is now hitting .315.

**Shane Victorino, Philadelphia Phillies- Shane finished the day 3-3 with 2 walks, he hit 3 doubles and is now hitting .301.

**Miguel Olivo, Kansas City Royals- Olivo went 2-4 with his 19Th Home Run of the season, he drove in both Royal runs, giving him 51 RBIs. Miguel is hitting .248.

**Brian Roberts, Baltimore Orioles- Brian set the tone for the Orioles, he finished up 1-3 with a walk and a sacrifice fly. He drove in 3 runs, giving him 69 RBIs, ruining Derek Jeter's night, who got a hit to take over Lou Gehrig as the Yankee with the most career hits. Brian is now hitting .283.

**Brian Tallet, Toronto Blue Jays- Brian threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 2, and struck out 7. Brian wins his 7Th game and now has a 5.26 ERA.

**J.D. Martin, Washington Nationals- J.D. threw 5 innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 4, struck out 4 and earned his 4Th win of the season. Martin now has a 4.29 ERA.

**Lance Berkman, Houston Astros- Lance finished the night 2-2 with 2 walks and he hit his 20Th Home Run of the year, driving in 2 runs, giving him 71 RBIs. Lance is now hitting .277.

**Kurt Suzuki, Oakland Athletics- Kurt finished the game 3-5, he hit his 12Th Home Run of the season, drove in 3 runs, giving him 72 RBIs, Kurt is now hitting .273.

**Jair Jurrjens, Atlanta Braves- 8 shutout innings, he walked 2, struck out 7, won his 11Th game and now has a 2.81 ERA.

**Ryan Braun, Milwaukee Brewers- Ryan went 2-5 and hit his 29Th Home Run of the season, giving him 100 career Home Runs and with his 3 RBIs, he has 98 on the season. Ryan is up to .309.

**Maicer Izturis, LA Angels- Izturis went 3-4 with 2 doubles and drove in 2 runs, giving him 57 RBIs and a .297 average.

**Yorvit Torrealba, Colorado Rockies- The Rockies looked dead, but magic took over, or maybe destiny? 2 outs, bases loaded, and Yorvit Torrealba delivered a 3 runs double, giving him 21 RBIs and he is hitting .277.

**Casey Blake, Los Angeles Dodgers- Casey finished the night 2-3 with a walk, he hit his 17Th Home Run of the season and drove in 3 runs, giving him 73 RBIs. Casey is hitting .276.

Goofballs:

**Justin Lehr, Cincinnati Reds- Justin threw 4 2/3 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 3, struck out 1 and now has a 4.93 ERA with 2 losses.

**Mets Offense- Scored just 2 runs, 9 hits, they walked 1 time, struck out 6. They are now a season high 17 games under .500 with the loss.

**Indians Offense- Had their chances in extra innings, they were thrown out at the plate twice, so they only scored 1 run, on 8 hits, walked 3 and struck out 13 times.

**Damaso Marte, New York Yankees- Marte blew the lead and lost the game, he lasted just 1/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 11.32 ERA, losing his 2Nd game of the season.

**Tigers Offense- They left 10 men on base, scoring 4 runs, 13 hits, 2 walks, and 8 strikeouts.

**Brian Sanshes, Florida Marlins- Brian lost his 2Nd game, he threw 1 inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out. Brian now has a 1.78 ERA.

**Ryan Doumit, Pittsburgh Pirates- Committed his 3rd error of the season that allowed 6 unearned runs to score in the 7Th inning.

**Nick Blackburn, Minnesota Twins- He lasted 3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, struck out 2 and gave up 3 Home Runs. Nick now has a 4.39 ERA with 11 losses.

**Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals- Albert made 2 errors, giving him 11 on the season.

**Doug Davis, Arizona Diamondbacks- Doug threw 3 innings, gave up 5 runs (5 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 2. Doug now has a 3.99 ERA with 13 losses.

**White Sox Offense- They scored 1 run on 5 hits, leaving 4 men on base.

**Heath Bell, San Diego Padres- Blew his 4Th save and lost the game. He threw 1 inning, gave up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 2.55 ERA.

**Merkin Valdez, San Francisco Giants- He couldn't retire anyone and put the game out of reach. He gave up 4 runs (4 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 5.72 ERA.

B & G's 9/10/09

Baseballs:

**Jose Bautista, Toronto Blue Jays- Gave the Jays enough offense to win, he finished the day 2-2 with his 5Th Home Run of the season, he drove in his 22Nd run of the year, and he walked. Jose is now hitting .229.

**Billy Butler, Kansas City Royals- Billy finished the day 2-5 and drove in the winning run for the Royals, his 77Th RBI of the season. Butler is now hitting .305.

**Juan Rincon, Colorado Rockies- Juan threw 3 shutout innings in a tight spot, with the starter, Jose Contreras coming out of the game to an injury, and he completely shut down the Reds, not walking anyone, struck out 5, won his 4Th game of the year and now has a 5.61 ERA.

**John Lackey, LA Angels- A complete game shutout, giving up 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 7. Lackey now has a 3.53 ERA with 10 wins.

**Ian Desmond, Washington Nationals- Ian, in his first Major League game, against the defending World series champions went 2-4 for his first career hit and his first career Home Run, he drove in 4 runs and now is hitting .500.

**Nick Johnson, Florida Marlins- Nick went 2-4 with 2 walks, he drove in 4 runs, giving him 59 RBIs and is hitting .304.

**Garrett Anderson, Atlanta Braves- Garrett went2-4 and drove in 3 runs, giving him 54 RBIs. Anderson is now hitting .280 on the year.

Goofballs:

**Twins Offense- 2 runs, 7 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, not getting many chances to punch in the winning runs. They left 6 men on base.

**Tigers Offense- They got swept by the Royals and they had plenty of chances to score more runs. Instead they only scored 4 runs, on 15 hits, they walked 3 times, struck out 5 and left 10 men on base.

**Reds Offense- Struck out 13 times and had no answers for 3 relievers in 6 innings.

**Mariners Offense- Were shutout, getting only 5 hits, walked 1 time and struck out 7. The Mariners left 4 men on base.

**Joe Blanton, Philadelphia Phillies- Joe lasted 4 2/3 innings, he gave up 8 runs, (8 earned), he walked 4, struck out 4, and gave up 2 Home Runs. Joe lost his 7Th game and has a 4.11 ERA.

**Bobby Parnell, New York Mets- Bobby only threw 5 innings, giving up 6 runs (5 earned), he walked 5, struck out 6 and now has a 5.49 ERA.

**Roy Oswalt, Houston Astros- The Astros ace didn't have it today, only lasting 2 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 2, struck out 5 and now has a 4.03 ERA with 6 losses.

B & G's 9/9/09

Baseballs:

**Esteban German, Texas Rangers- German was a thorn on the Indians side all day, he finished off 5-5 at the plate with a double and he drove in his 3rd run. German came into the game hitting .150, he is now hitting .320.

**Carlos Zambrano, Chicago Cubs- Carlos came back from being injured and threw 6 solid innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 3, and struck out 8. The Cubs need Carlos more than ever to serve as their ace down the stretch. He has a 3.77 ERA.

**Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals- Albert is the best player in baseball. Maybe some of you already knew that, but he has a good chance to prove it by winning a triple crown. He is 2Nd in batting average, .331, he leads the National League in Home Runs with 47, and he is 2Nd in the league in RBIs with 144. Oh yeah, he went 3-5 at the plate with 47 Home Runs now, and drove in 3 runs, giving him 144 RBIs. Albert now is hitting .331. He is fun to watch.

**Wade Leblanc, San Diego Padres- Wade threw 7 strong innings, stopping the Giants offense, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 3, struck out 3 and now he has a 5.01 ERA, winning his 2Nd game.

**Derek Jeter, New York Yankees- The night was his, he tied Lou Gehrig's all time Yankee hit list with 2,721 hits, he finished the night 3-4 with a walk and he is hitting .330 on the season.

**Carl Pavano, Minnesota Twins- Carl threw 7 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 5 and now has a 4.92 ERA with 12 wins.

**Victor Martinez, Boston Red Sox- Victor came into the game as a pinch hitter and delivered a 3 run pinch hit double giving the Red Sox the lead for good. Victor is now hitting .295 with 95 RBIs.

**Pedro Feliz, Philadelphia Phillies- Pedro hit a key Home Run to give the Phillies a bit of a cushion, he finished the night 2-3 with a walk. He now has 10 Home Runs, 66 RBIs and a .268 average.

**Ricky Nolasco, Florida Marlins- He and Cody Ross set the tone against the Mets. Ricky threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 2, struck out 4, and won his 11Th game. He has a 5.23 ERA.

**Billy Butler, Kanasa City Royals- Billy finished the game 3-5 with 3 doubles, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 76 RBIs and is hitting .304.

**Miguel Tejada, Houston Astros- Tejada finished up the game with a walk off single to drive in the final 2 runs, he now has 72 RBIs and a .302 after going 1-4.

**A.J. Pierzynski, Chicago White Sox- A.J. hit a walk off double, he drove in his 43 RBI of the year and finished the night 2-5 with 2 walks.

**Seth Smith, Colorado Rockies- Seth finished the day 2-4 and he hit a walk off single to drive in 2 runs, he finished off with 3 runs driven in and now has 51 RBIs and is hitting .317.

**Jered Weaver- Jered gave the Angels 6 1/3 solid innings, he gave up 2 runs (2 earned), did not walk anyone, struck out 8 and won his 15Th game. Weaver now has a 3.76 ERA.

**Miguel Montero, Arizona Diamondbacks- Miguel finished the game 3-3 with a walk, he hit his 14Th Home Run of the year, drove in his 53rd run and now is hitting .304.

Goofballs:

**Fausto Carmona, Cleveland Indians- This was his worst start in quite some time, he only lasted 2/3 of an inning, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and gave up 2 Home Runs. He has a 6.48 ERA.

**Pirates Offense- They did score 5 runs, but only had 6 hits, they walked 5 times and struck out 11, leaving 6 men on base.

**Brewers Offense- 1 run on 6 hits, they walked 1 time and struck out 7, leaving 5 men on base.

**Giants Offense- 2 runs on just 5 hits, they walked 3 times, struck out 5 and left 4 men on base.

**Lance Cormier, Tampa Bay Rays- Lost the game, he didn't retire anyone, gave up 2 runs (1 earned). Lance lost his 3rd game and now has a 3.33 ERA.

**Blue Jays Offense- Couldn't help Roy Halladay out, they could score 1 run, on 6 hits, 2 walks, and 6 strikeouts. The Jays left 6 men on base, unable to deliver that big clutch hit.

**Orioles Offense- They had opportunities breaking the game open, but they scored 5 runs, on 12 hits, 5 walks and 8 strikeouts, leaving 12 men on base.

**Tyler Clippard, Washington Nationals- Tyler lost the game, he gave up back to back Home Runs. In 1 inning of work, he gave up 2 runs (2 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 1 and now has a 3.16 ERA, losing his 2Nd game.

**Mets Offense- 3 runs on only 4 hits the entire game.

**Tigers Offense- They only scored 1 run, 5 hits, and struck out 11 times.

**Rafael Soriano, Atlanta Braves- Blew the save and lost the game. He gave up 2 runs (2 earned) in 1/3 of an inning. Soriano now has a 2.80 ERA, losing his 5Th game.

**Edgar Gonzales, Oakland Athletics- Lost his 2Nd game, he threw 1 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he now has a 4.92 ERA.

**Francisco Cordero, Cincinnati Reds- Cordero blew the save and lost the game. He lasted 2/3 of an inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2, struck out 1 and now has a 2.44 ERA.

**Mariners Offense- Other than the back to back Home Runs, the Mariners offense did not do much. 3 runs, on 9 hits, 1 walk, and 11 strikeouts. They left 7 men on base.

**Ramon Troncoso, Los Angeles Dodgers- Ramon lost the game, he committed his 1st error of the season, then walked 3 men, including walking in the winning run. Ramon gave up an unearned run and now has a 2.51 ERA with 3 losses.

Baseballs:

**Marlon Byrd, Texas Rangers, Game One- Marlon finished game 1 4-4 with a walk, including hitting his 16Th Home Run of the season, driving in 3 runs, he now has 72 RBIs and is hitting .283.

**Raul Ibanez, Philadelphia Phillies- Ibanez led the way, he went 3-4 and hit 2 Home Runs giving him 30 on the season. He drove in 2 runs, giving him 82 RBIs and is hitting .279.

**Geovany Soto, Chicago Cubs- Soto went 1-3 with 2 walks and he drove in 2 runs, giving him 35 RBIs, Soto is now hitting .219.

**Cameron Maybin, Florida Marlins- Cameron went 2-4 and hit his 2Nd Home Run of the season, driving in 2 runs, giving him 7 RBIs and a .228 average.

**Nick Swisher, New York Yankees- Nick finished the night 2-3 with a walk and 2 Home Runs, but his last Home Run is what counted the most, a walk off shot to give the Yankees the win. He now has 26 Home Runs on the year, and 77 RBIs with a .254 average.

**John McDonald, Toronto Blue Jays- Johnny Mac delivered with just his 2Nd Home Run of the year, a 3 run shot to give his Jays the lead for good, he now has 7 RBIs, and after his 3-4 evening, he is hitting .267.

**Dustin Pedroia, Boston red Sox- Dustin hit 2 Home Runs to lead the Red Sox charge, he now has 12 on the year and with the 3 runs he drove in, he has 60 RBIs. Dustin is now hitting .294.

**Chris Davis, Texas Rangers, Game Two- Chris finished the twin bill with a 3-4 game, he hit his 18Th Home Run of the season, drove in 4 runs, giving him 48 RBIs and he is now hitting .215.

**Javier Vazquez, Atlanta Braves- Vazquez threw 7 shutout innings, he walked 4, and struck out 9, winning his 12Th game. Javier also went 2-3 at the plate and is hitting .207 with a 3.06 ERA.

**Matt Holliday, St. Louis Cardinals- Matt went 2-4 with a walk and he hit his 23rd Home Run of the season, driving in 2 runs, giving him 95 RBIs. Holliday is now hitting .316.

**Billy Butler, Kansas City Royals- Billy went 2-3 with 2 RBIs, giving him 74 RBIs and he is now hitting .302.

**Ryan Sweeney, Oakland Athletics- Ryan went 4-6 at the plate, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 41 RBIs and is now hitting .283.

**Eric Young Jr.- The young rookie helped his Rockies win by producing a 2-3 evening with his 1st Major League Home Run, he drove in his 1st Major League RBI and is now hitting .308.

**Andre Ethier, Los Angeles Dodgers- Andre finished the night 2-4 and he drove in 2 runs, giving him 94 RBIs. Andre is now hitting .282.

**Chase Headley, San Diego Padres- Chase finished the night 3-4 and he hit his 11Th Home Run of the season, drove in 2 runs, including the go ahead run, giving him 52 RBIs and he is hitting .259.

**Erick Aybar, LA Angels- Won the game with a walk off single, driving in his 52Nd RBI of the season, finishing off 1-5 and is hitting .305.

Goofballs:

**Jensen Lewis, Cleveland Indians, Game One- Jensen lost his 4Th game of the year, he threw 1 1/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 4.94 ERA.

**John Lannan, Washington Nationals- John threw 6 2/3 innings, he gave up 4 runs (4 earned), walked 2, and struck out 1. John gave up 4 Home Runs to take part in his 11Th loss of the year. He has a 4.14 ERA.

**Zach Duke, Pittsburgh Pirates- Zach lasted just 4 innings, giving up 8 runs (8 earned), he walked 1, struck out 2 and now has a 4.02 ERA, taking his 14Th loss.

**Mets Offense- 2 runs, 10 hits, 1 walk, 5 strikeouts, leaving 8 men on base.

**Rays Offense- 2 runs on only 8 hits, 3 walks, and 7 strikeouts.

**Jon Raush, Minnesota Twins- Jon lost the game by giving up a 3 run Home Run to John McDonald. He worked 2/3 of an inning, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 1, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 4.27 ERA after his 3rd loss of the season.

**David Hernandez, Baltimore Orioles- David threw 2 2/3 innings, gave up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 2, struck out 3, gave up 4 Home Runs and now has a 5.05 ERA with 7 losses.

**Aaron Laffey, Cleveland Indians, Game Two- Aaron lasted 3 1/3 innings, gave up 7 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, and struck out 1. Aaron lost his 5Th game and now has a 3.79 ERA.

**Astros Offense- 1 run on 7 hits, they walked 4, and struck out 9 with just 1 extra base hit, leaving 8 men on base.

**Trevor Hoffman, Milwaukee Brewers- Trevor blew the save and he lost the game, throwing 1 inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1 and now has a 2.05 ERA.

**Bobby Seay, Detroit Tigers- Blew the lead and lost his 3rd game. He threw 2/3 of an inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he has a 3.60 ERA.

**Carlos Torres, Chicago White Sox- Certainly his shortest outing of his short career. He only threw 2/3 of an inning, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 1, struck out 1, gave up 2 Home Runs and now has a 6.35 ERA.

**Reds Offense- 1 run on just 4 hits for the team, they left 7 men on base.

**Blaine Boyer, Arizona Diamondbacks- Blaine lasted 2/3 of an inning, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he now has a 4.50 ERA.

**Giants Offense- 3 runs on 9 hits, just 2 walks, and 7 strikeouts, leaving 7 men on base.

**Jack Wilson, Seattle Mariners- Committed 2 errors, giving him 11 on the season.

Aroung the MLB on Wednesday...

*The Cardinals and utility man Mark Derosa are working on an extension before he hits free agency.

*The Cubs were 1 of many teams to watch pitcher Wei-Yin Chen's last start ans will likely be a free agent in the United States.

*The Phillies release pitcher Rodrigo Lopez, Lopez has a era of 5.70 in 30 innings this year.

*DH Mike Sweeney hopes to play in 2010.

Baseballs:

**Derek Lee, Chicago Cubs- Derek went 2-3 with a walk, he hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 31 on the season. He drove in 3 runs, giving him 96 RBIs and Lee is now hitting .298.

**Alex Rodriguez, New York Yankees, Game One- Alex finished the day 3-3 with a walk, he drove in his 79Th RBI and is now hitting .282.

**Joe Mauer, Minnesota Twins- Joe had another good day, finishing 3-5 with 2 RBIs, giving him 82 on the year. Joe now is hitting .369.

**Mark Buerhle, Chicago White Sox- Mark threw 7 strong innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 4, and he now has a 3.77 ERA, winning his 12Th game.

**Hunter Pence, Houston Astros- Hunter went 2-3 with a walk, he hit his 23rd Home Run of the season, driving in 3 runs, giving him 67 RBIs and is hitting .286.

**Billy Butler, Kansas City Royals- Billy finished the day 3-4 with a walk, he hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 17 on the year and he drove in 4 runs, giving him 72 RBIs. Billy is now hitting .299.

**Mark Teixeira, New York Yankees, Game Two- Mark paced the Yankees to sweep the Rays in the double header. He went 3-4 and hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 35 on the year. He drove in 4 runs, giving him 106 RBIs and Mark is hitting .282.

Goofballs:

**Pirates Offense- They only scored 2 runs, on 2 hits, they walked 3 times and struck out 10. They now lost their 82Nd game and that assures another losing season in Pittsburgh, their 17Th straight season.

**Lance Cormier, Tampa Bay Rays, Game One- Lance gave up 3 runs (3 earned) in 1/3 of an inning, he walked 2, didn't strike anyone out. Lance now has a 3.23 ERA, losing his 2Nd game.

**Scott Richmond, Toronto Blue Jays- Scott threw 6 innings, gave up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 3 and struck out 2. Scott lost his 9Th game and has a 4.76 ERA.

**Red Sox Offense- Only scored 1 run on 8 hits, they walked 2, struck out 7 and left 8 men on base.

**Chan Ho Park, Philadelphia Phillies- Park blew the lead and lost the game. He lasted 1/3 of an inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 3, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 4.59 ERA.

**Angels Offense- Left 12 men on base, a frustrating day that they did not get the clutch hits.

**Brewers Offense- Just 1 hit, after a day they won a dramatic game. They had no answers for Carpenter.

**Carlos Fisher, Cincinnati Reds- Calos threw 2/3 of an inning, gave up the Home Run, 1 run (1 earned), he now has a 4.18 ERA, losing his 1st game of the season.

**Diamondback Offense- 2 runs on 8 hits, they left 6 men on base.

**Clayton Richard, San Diego Padres- Clayton threw 4 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, struck out 3 and now has a 4.88 ERA, giving up 2 Home Runs.

**Andy Sonnanstine, Tampa Bay Rays- Andy only threw 2 2/3 innings, gave up 8 runs (8 earned), he walked 3, struck out 1 and now has a 7.23 ERA.

B & G's 9/6/09

Baseballs:

**Michael Brantley, Cleveland Indians- Michael had 2 more hits today, including driving in the winning run and scoring the insurance run. He now has 2 RBIs and is hitting .391.

**Daniel Murphy, New York Mets- Murphy went 3-4 at the plate, including a Home Run, his 9Th Home Run of the season, he drove in 4 runs, giving him 53 RBIs and he had a triple. Daniel is now hitting .259 on the year.

**Micah Owings, Cincinnati Reds- Micah threw 2 scoreless innings, winning his 7Th game of the year. But the story of the day was with the bases loaded, he got hit by a pitch to drive in his 10Th run of the year. Micah appeared to be okay, he left the game with some help, but he gave the thumbs up, which is good to hear.

**Ryan Zimmerman, Washington Nationals- Ryan hit a walk off Home Run, a 2 run shot, his 28Th of the year. Ryan finished off 1-5 and now has 93 RBIs. He is hitting .300.

**Randy Ruiz, Toronto Blue Jays- Randy earlier drove in a run in the 7Th inning and in his next at bat, he was hit in the mouth by the baseball. Randy drove in 2 runs, and the good news is he appears to be okay. Ruiz has 11 RBIs and after his 1-3 day, he is hitting .296.

**Jeremy Guthrie, Baltimore Orioles- Jeremy threw 7 shutout innings, he walked 1 and struck out 6, winning his 10Th game of the year and now has a 4.96 ERA.

**Garrett Jones, Pittsburgh Pirates- Garrett hit a walk off single to win the game for the Pirates. He finished the day 2-5 and drove in his 36Th run of the season. He is hitting .308 on the year.

**Brandon Inge, Detroit Tigers- Brandon struck out 3 times in his first 3 at bats, but his 4Th at bat was the one that counted, a grand slam, giving his team the lead for good. Brandon now has 27 Home Runs, 74 RBIs, and now he is hitting .233 after his 1-4 afternoon.

**Jon Lester, Boston red Sox- Jon threw 7 shutout innings, he walked 2, and struck out 8, winning his 12Th game. Lester lowered his ERA to 3.44.

**Miguel Tejada, Houston Astros- Tejada went 4-4 with 2 doubles and he drove in his 70Th run, leading the Astros over the Phillies. Miguel is hitting .303.

**Prince Fielder, Milwaukee Brewers- Prince ended the game with a towering shot, his 37Th of the season and he now has 123 RBIs. He also ended a triple play earlier in the game and even had a creative celebration that might rub the Giants the wrong way, when he touched home plate, he stomped there and his teammates all fell down like they were bowling pins. That might not have been a smart idea because next time he plays the Giants, I am sure the Giants will remember that.

**Bobby Abreau, LA Angels- Bobby finished the day 2-3 with 2 walks and he drove in 3 runs, giving him 89 RBIs on the season. Bobby is now hitting .297.

**Seth Smith, Colorado Rockies- Seth finished the day 2-4 with a walk and hit 2 Home Runs, giving him 15 on the season. He drove in 5 runs, 48 RBIs and he is now hitting .317.

**Scott Hairston, Oakland Athletics- Scott gave his team a big lift with a grand slam Home Run, his 17Th of the season and that gave the Athletics the lead in the 7Th inning and the win. He has 58 RBIs with the 4 runs he drove in and after going 1-4, he is hitting .268.

**Tim Stauffer, San Diego Padres- Tim threw 6 1/3 innings, giving up 3 runs (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 3 and now has a 3.49 ERA, with his 4Th win.

Goofballs:

**Twins Offense- The Twins had some trouble scoring some runs, not giving Nick Blackburn any runs to work with. 1 run on 3 hits, 4 walks, and 6 strikeouts. They left 6 men on base.

**Kevin Gregg, Chicago Cubs- Kevin gave up 2 more runs today, (2 earned), he threw 2/3 of an inning, walked 1 and struck out 1. Gregg now has a 4.57 ERA.

**Braves Offense- They only had 5 hits the entire game, scored 2 runs, walked 4 times, and struck out 13 times.

**Leo Nunez, Florida Marlins- Blew the save in the 9Th inning and lost the game when he gave up 2 Home Runs, one to Zimmerman and the other to Willie Harris. Leo gave up 3 runs (3 earned) in 0 innings, he lost his 5Th game and now has a 4.25 ERA.

**Yankees Defense- 4 errors committed by the Yankees didn't help their cause today. Robinson Cano (10Th), Jerry Hairston Jr (12Th), Ramiro Pena (5Th), and Mark Teixeira (3rd) all did the errors.

**Derek Holland, Texas Rangers- Derek threw 3 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 3, and struck out 6. Derek lost his 10Th game and now has a 5.93 ERA.

**Ryan Franklin, St. Louis Cardinals- Had a rare blown save and lost his 2Nd game. He threw 1/3 of an inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), Ryan now has a 1.67 ERA.

**Russ Springer, Tampa Bay Rays- Russ wound up giving up the Home Run and lost the game. He didn't retire anyone, giving up 2 runs (2 earned) and now has a 4.05 ERA.

**White Sox Offense- They had no answers today, scoring just 1 run on 6 hits, they walked 2 times, and struck out 9 times, leaving 6 men on base.

**Phillies Offense- 3 runs on 9 hits, leaving 7 men on base. No clutch hitting to put them over the top.

**Giants Offense- They left 11 men on base, 1 run on 10 hits.

**Luke Hochevar, Kansas City Royals- Another bad outing for Luke as he finished the day throwing 3 2/3 innings, giving up 7 runs (7 earned), he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 6.10 ERA with 9 losses.

**Daniel Cabrera, Arizona Diamondbacks- As bad as Yusmeiro Petit was, Daniel Cabrera was worst, he gave up 5 runs (5 earned) in 0 innings. He walked 2, didn't strike anyone out and now has a 6.98 ERA.

**Shawn Kelley, Seattle Mariners- Lost the game for the Mariners, he gave up 4 runs (4 earned) in 2 innings, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 2. Shawn now has a 4.82 ERA, losing his 2Nd game of the season.

**Dodgers Offense- They are struggling, no question about that, and it's not their pitching that is losing games for them, but rather their offense. 3 runs on 8 hits, 3 walks, 7 strikeouts, and they left 9 men on base. They certainly had chances to tie the game, but couldn't get the job done.

Baseballs:

**Derek Lee, Chicago Cubs- Derek went 3-4 with 2 Home Runs, giving him 29 on the year. He drove in 3 runs, giving him 93 RBIs and he is now hitting .293.

**Robinson Cano, New York Yankees- Cano finished the day 3-4 with a walk. He hit his 23rd Home Run of the season, driving in his 75Th run and is hitting .319.

**Matt Cain, San Francisco Giants- Matt earned his 1st win in 6 weeks by throwing 7 strong innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2 and struck out 5. Matt has 13 wins and a 2.51 ERA.

**Nick Punto, Minnesota Twins- Nick went 2-3 with a walk and he drove in a run to give the Twins a 2-1 lead. The other run was scored on an error, so he has 30 RBIs and hitting .219.

**Gavin Floyd, Chicago White Sox- Gavin threw 8 strong innings, throwing 6 perfect innings, he gave up 1 run (1 earned), didn't record a walk and struck out 11. Gavin wins his 11Th game and carries a 3.84 ERA.

**Melvin Mora, Baltimore Orioles- Melvin went 3-4 with his 7Th Home Run, driving in 3 runs, including the game winning RBI, and that gives him 40 RBIs. Melvin is now hitting .265.

**Kazui Matsui, Houston Astros- Matsui picked up the game winning hit, driving in 2 runs with a single, he now has 36 RBIs after a 1-5 game. Matsui is hitting .244.

**Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins- Hanley finished up 2-4 with a walk and he hit his 20Th Home Run, driving in 3 runs, giving him 91 RBIs. Hanley is now hitting .359.

**Albert Pujols, St. Louis Cardinals- Albert hit his 44Th Home Run in the 10Th inning, serving as a pinch hitter to give his Cardinals another win. Pujols now has 117 RBIs and a .321 average.

**Kip Wells, Cincinnati Reds- Kip won his 1st game of the year, 6 strong innings, giving up just 1 hit, he walked 4, struck out 4 and now has a 4.85 ERA.

**Marcus Thames, Detroit Tigers- Marcus delivered the big hit to drive in the winning run when he pinch hit in the 8Th inning. He now has 31 RBIs and is hitting .247.

**Erick Aybar, LA Angels- Eric finished the night 3-4 and he drove in the winning run in the 11Th inning, his 50Th RBI of the season. Erick is now hitting .303.

**Jose Contreras, Colorado Rockies- Jose made a nice debut for the Rockies, he pitched 6 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 5 and now has a 5.19 ERA with his 6Th win.

**Cliff Pennington, Oakland Athletics- Cliff finished the night 3-3 with a walk, he hit his 3rd Home Run of the season, driving in 2 runs, giving him 10 RBIs. Cliff is now hitting .252.

**Randy Wolf, Los Angeles Dodgers- Randy earned his 100Th career win by going 7 strong innings, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 5. Randy now has 10 wins and a 3.22 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Mets Offense- 3 runs on 10 hits, 4 walks, and 13 strikeouts. In fact the first 3 hitters (Angel Pagen, Luis Castillo, and David Wright) all struck out 3 times apiece. They left 10 men on base.

**Blue Jays Offense- 4 runs on only 4 hits, they left 7 men on base.

**Brewers Offense- As a team, they only scored 2 runs, 6 hits, they walked 2 times, and struck out 6. The Brewers in the process couldn't get that clutch hit, leaving 6men on base.

**Indians Offense- Just a tough afternoon for the Indians hitting, getting absolutely no momentum, scoring 1 run on 4 hits, leaving 7 men on base.

**Red Sox Offense- Once again, they struggled to score runs, 1 run on only 3 hits with 1 walk and 12 strikeouts. They didn't even stand a chance today with the offense.

**Kevin Millwood, Texas Rangers- Had a 3-0 lead to work with, but he couldn't hold it. He threw 5 innings, giving up 5 runs (5 earned), he walked 4 and struck out 4. Kevin lost his 9Th game and now has a 3.77 ERA.

**Brad Lidge, Philadelphia Phillies- Blew his 10Th save, and he lost the game. He worked 2/3 of an inning, giving up 2 runs (2 earned), he walked 2 and struck out 1. Brad lost his 7Th game and now has a 7.15 ERA.

**Livan Hernandez, Washington Nationals- Livan threw 5 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 4, struck out 6 and now has a 5.44 ERA.

**Pirates Offense- Couldn't get any protection for a brilliant pitching performance by Ross Ohlendorf, who deserved the win. 1 run on 6 hits, and they left 9 men on base.

**Braves Offense- Were shut down all night, scoring 1 run and getting 4 hits, walked 5 times and struck out 7. The Braves left 9 men on base, not getting the big hit.

**Grant Balfour, Tampa Bay Rays- Grant wasn't the only person to blame, but he gave up the losing run and he lost his 4Th game. He gave up 1 run 91 earned) in 1 inning, he walked 1, and didn't strike anyone out. Grant now has a 4.62 ERA.

**Royals Offense- 1 run on just 7 hits, didn't have an answer for John lackey. With Zack Greinke pitching well, a good old fashioned pitcher's duel.

**Arizona Diamondbacks- Left 7 men on base with 1 run on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 7 strikeouts.

**Bill Hall, Seattle Mariners- Had a very tough night, striking out 5 times.

**Everth Cabrera, San Diego Padres- Committed 3 errors, allowing 3 unearned runs to score. Cabrera now has 12 errors this year.

RP Rafael Betancourt has a 5.4 million club option with the Colorado Rockies.
RP Doug Brocail has a 2.85 club option with a 225K buyout with the Houston Astros.
RP J.J Putz has a 9.15 million club option with a 1 million buyout wit the New York Mets.
RP Yasuhiko Yabuta has a 4 million club option with a 500K buyout with the Kansas City Royals.
RP Alan Embree has a 3 million club option with a 250K buyout with the Colorado Rockies.
RP Brian Shouse has a club option with the Milwaukee Brewers.
RP Will Ohman 2.2 million club option with a 200K buyout with the Los Angeles Dodgers.

**Michael Brantley, Cleveland Indians- Michael made his 1st career Major League start hitting lead off, he responded by going 2-5 with his 1st career RBI. He is hitting .400 on the year.

**John Baker, Florida Marlins- John went 3-5 and drove in 4 runs, giving him 46 RBIs. Baker now has 9 Home Runs after he hit one and is hitting .281.

**Scott Feldman, Texas Rangers- Scott worked 6 2/3 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 3.62 ERA and won his 15Th game of the season.

**Ryan Ludwick, St. Louis Cardinals- Ryan went 5-5 with 2 Home Runs and he drove in 5 runs, leading the way for the Cardinals to beat the Pirates. Ryan now has 20 Home Runs, 86 RBIs, and he is hitting .276.

**Fernando Tatis, New York Mets- Tatis entered the game as a pinch hitter, and he started the 5 run 8Th by driving in his 38Th run with a pinch hit. Tatis is now hitting .263.

**Bronson Arroyo, Cincinnati Reds- Bronson threw 7 strong innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 3, struck out 4 and now has a 4.23 ERA.

**Roy Halladay, Toronto Blue Jays- Halladay threw a complete game shutout, a 1 hitter, he walked 3, struck out 9, and won his 14Th game. Roy now has a 2.98 ERA.

**Justin Verlander, Detroit Tigers- Justin threw 8 strong innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 7 and now has a 3.29 ERA, winning his 16Th game.

**Wandy Rodriguez, Houston Astros- Wandy threw 7 strong shutout innings, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 7. Wandy now has a 2.82 ERA and he went 1-3 at the plate, driving in 2 runs, giving him 4 RBIs on the season. Rodriguez is now hitting .111.

**Chris Getz, Chicago White Sox- Chris went 4-5 at the plate, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 30 RBIs and is now hitting .275.

**Bengie Molina, San Francisco Giants- First pitch he saw in the 8Th inning, he liked. Molina connected on his 17Th Home Run of the season, a solo shot, giving him 68 RBIs. Molina is now hitting .259.

**Jered Weaver, LA Angels- Did enough for his offense to get him the win. 7 innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he walked 1, struck out 6 and now has a 3.79 ERA.

**Jason Giambi, Colorado Rockies- Jason delivered with a pinch hit single, driving in his 44Th run to give the Rockies the lead for good. Jason is hitting .199 on the year.

**Ichiro, Seattle Mariners- Ichiro is 2 hits shy of reaching 2,000 hits in his Major League career. Ichiro drove in a run, his 37Th RBI and is now hitting .360.

**Wade LeBlanc, San Diego Padres- Wade threw 6 shutout innings, he walked 3, struck out 2. Wade won his 1st game of the year and now has a 6.06 ERA.

Goofballs:

**Twins Defense- The defense let the Twins down, 4 errors, 2 by Brandon Harris (10), Orlando Cabrera (20), and Justin Morneau (3). 2 unearned runs hurt the Twins in the game.

**Garrett Mock, Washington Nationals- Garrett threw 3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, struck out 3 and gave up 2 Home Runs. Garrett now has a 5.63 ERA with 7 losses.

**Orioles Offense- 1 run on 4 hits, 2 walks, and 4 strikeouts, leaving 5 men on base.

**Denny Bautista, Pittsburgh Pirates- Denny threw 2/3 of an inning, blew the lead and he gave up 3 runs (3 earned), he gave up a Home Run and now has a 4.05 ERA.

**Kevin Gregg, Chicago Cubs- Kevin lost the game, his 6Th loss of the year and after giving up 2 runs (2 earned) in 0 innings, he has a 4.33 ERA.

**Braves Offense- 1 run on 6 hits, they walked 4 times, struck out 4 and left 7 men on base.

**Yankees Offense- 0 runs on 1 hit, they walked 3 times and left 4 men on base.

**J.P. Howell, Tampa Bay Rays- Howell lost his 5Th game, he threw 2/3 of an inning, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 2, struck out 2 and now has a 2.83 ERA.

**Cliff Lee, Philadelphia Phillies- Cliff got crushed again, he only threw 3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he didn't walk anyone, struck out 3 and now has a 3.06 ERA with 11 losses.

**Paul Byrd, Boston Red Sox- After Byrd pitched so great his first start, this was the complete opposite. He threw 2 1/3 innings, giving up 7 runs (7 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 3. Byrd lost his 1st game and now has a 7.56 ERA.

**Brewers Offense- 10 walks, and they left 12 men on base, only scored 2 runs for the entire game.

**Royals Offense- 1 run on 11 hits, leaving 8 men on base. The Royals outhit the Angels 11-3, but the Angels won the game.

**Blaine Boyer, Arizona Diamondbacks- Blaine lost the game, threw 1 inning, gave up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 1. Boyer now has a 4.01 ERA with 2 losses.

**Athletics Offense- They scored 3 runs, on 5 hits, 1 walk, and 4 strikeouts. They left 3 men on base.

**Dodgers Offense- They were shutout and lately have looked average. They need one more run to get in better shape for the postseason.

Options for After the Season (Players)

RHP Josh Beckett has a 12 million club/vesting option with a 2 million buyout with the Boston Red Sox.
RHP Jon Garland has a 10 million mutual option with 2.5 million or 1 million buyout with the Los Angeles Dodgers.
RHP Tim Hudson has a 12 million mutual option with a 1 million buyout with the Atlanta Braves.
LHP Cliff Lee has a 8 million club option with a 1 million buyout with the Philadelphia Phillies.
RHP Braden Looper has a 6.5 million mutual option with possible buyout with the Milwaukee Brewers.
RHP Kevin Millwood has a 12 million vesting option if reaches 180 innings pitch for the Texas Rangers.
RHP Brian Moehler has a mutual option with the Houston Astros.
RHP Tim Wakefield has a perpetual 4 million club option with the Boston Red Sox.
RHP Brandon Webb has a 8.5 million club option with a 2 million buyout with the Arizona Diamondbacks.

**Placido Polanco, Detroit Tigers- Polanco did what he had to do, with the bases loaded, nobody out in the 10Th inning, he hit a fly ball to drive in the winning run, his 60Th of the season. Polanco now is hitting .273.

**Casey McGehee, Milwaukee Brewers- Casey went 1-3 with a sacrifice fly and he hit his 13Th Home Run of the season, driving in 3 runs, giving him 49 RBIs. Casey is now hitting .299.

**Carlos Torres, Chicago White Sox- 7 shutout innings, he didn't walk anyone, struck out 6 and earned his 1st Major league win. Carlos now has a 3.86 ERA.

**David Wright, New York Mets- David finished the day 3-4 and he drove in 3 runs, giving him 58 RBIs. Wright is now hitting .327.

**Pedro Martinez, Philadelphia Phillies- Pedro dominated the Giants hitters, throwing 7 strong innings, giving up 1 run (1 earned), he didn't walk anyone and struck out 9. Pedro now has a 3.52 ERA.

**Jorge Posada, New York Yankees- Jorge finished the night 4-5 and hit his 20Th Home Run of the season, he drove in 4 runs, giving him 70 RBIs. Posada is now hitting .288.

**Hanley Ramirez, Florida Marlins- Hanley came into the game to pinch hit and he drove in the tying run, his 86Th RBI of the season. Hanley is now hitting .356.

**Jason Bay, Boston Red Sox- Jason finished the night 2-4 with 2 doubles, he drove in 2 runs, giving him 96 RBIs and is hitting .260.

**Bill Hall, Seattle Mariners- Bill went 2-4 and hit his 7Th Home Run of the season, drove in 2 runs, giving him 32 RBIs and Bill is hitting .210 on the year.

**Rockies Offense- 3 runs on 6 hits, 2 walks, 5 strikeouts, leaving 5 men on base, not having any answers for the Mets pitching.

**Giants Offense- They struck out 11 as a team and couldn't get enough runs for Tim Linecum.

**Jason Frasor, Toronto Blue Jays- Jason threw an inning, giving up 3 runs (3 earned), he walked 2 and struck out 2. Jason now has a 2.33 ERA.

**Kris Medlen, Atlanta Braves- Kris threw 1/3 of an inning, giving up 4 runs (2 earned), he walked 1 and struck out 1. Kris lost his 5Th game and now has a 4.68 ERA.

**Rays Offense- They only scored 3 runs, 6 hits, 3 walks, 8 strikeouts, they left 6 men on base. Had a big opportunity to getting back into the playoff hunt, but lost the series to the Red Sox instead.

**Brett Tomko, Oakland Athletics- Brett had some trouble today, he worked 5 2/3 innings, giving up 6 runs (6 earned), he walked 1, and struck out 2. Brett lost his 3rd game, gave up 3 Home Runs and now has a 4.40 ERA.

**Diamondbacks Offense- They were shut down by the Dodgers pitching, just didn't get those breaks to score more runs when they had their chances. 2 runs on 7 hits, 1 walk, and 8 strikeouts.
