Corners Market
As we know yesterday afternoon the White Sox acquired Alex Rios from the Jays as straight waiver claim, so the Blue Jays will receive nothing in return. Rios (28) will be a White Sox till 2014 with an option for the 2015. GM J.P. Ricciardi had this to say:
"This allows us to get out from under a contract and do more to address our club.Other news:
- Brandon Webb will pitch next year, but hopes the D'Backs pick up his $8.5MM or they'll have to buy him out for $2MM.
- Gary Sheffield said that he would prefer not to be traded, but suggested that could all change, depending on where the Mets try to deal him.
- Olney hears that Doug Davis is currently on waivers while John Smoltz has cleared waivers.
- Olney also hears that the Rays might listen to offers regarding B.J. Upton this off-season.
