Bud Selig made a surprising statement "
I was told by somebody with pretty good inside knowledge that they won’t get rid of him," (on Halladay.) Then said
"Now, whether that’s true or not, I don’t know. And, you know, clubs are going to start bidding it up." 6:39 PM:
Tom Haudricourt reports that Brewers GM said "
it's not true that the Brewers have withdrawn from the bidding for Halladay."6:05 PM:
Andy Martino reports that the Jays have asked for Kyle Drabek, J.A. Happ, and outfielder Dominic Brown.

Ed Price reports the Jays are asking for Kyle Drabek, Michael Taylor, Jason Donald and Lou Marson (Jays considering), but no deal seems to be close.
4:23 PM:
Danny Knobler reports that the Phillies are "fully determined" to acquire Halladay, with the Dodgers as a slim chance of acquiring him.
As for the Jays, one official says "it's obvious that they have to move him now."4:04 PM:
Jon Heyman writes; The Jays could get a stronger overall cast if they accept J.A. Happ in place of Kyle Drabek.
3:58 PM:
Danny Knobler now reports that the Brewers are now out of the Halladay sweepstakes, basically because they don't want to give up Mat Gamel or Alcides Escobar.
3:30 PM:
Danny Knobler reports that the Phillies are still the favorite, but teams are not close to completing a deal.
2:02 PM: Dodgers GM Ned Colletti says the Jays want 2 or 3 current Dodgers (including a young pitcher) and five or six prospects;
writes Ken Gurnick.
2:01 PM: Jon Heyman reports that the Phillies are "trying hard" to acquire Halladay. Heyman also states that he'd be surprised if the Phils don't get him.
11:44 AM:
Ed Price reports that the Reds have interest in Halladay, but you gotta believe he wouldn't approve a trade to a team that is 6 games out of it's division.
Earlier today:
- Ricciardi (told the Globe and Mail) reiterated that Halladay didn't give him a list of teams he's willing to play for, rather the team approached the player about possible destinations.
- Jon Heyman tells us that the Phillies are the front runners for Halladay, but the Brewers have a shot.
- Jim Salisbury talked to Ricciardi who said that their are four serious teams in Halladay who have the talent to acquire the ace.
- Ricciardi told Mike Rutsey that the Jays will NOT pay any of Halladay's salary if he's traded.
- Blue Jays would require Kyle Drabek and J.A. Happ in the deal according to Jim Salisbury sources.
